This weekend i was reminded how I've been surrounded by a lot of talented and hardworking people. Saturday night, I was invited to hang out with one of my good friends to hang out at The W. In the process, I met up with one of my buddies who I haven't seen in a while, Carl Bowen, who's a celebrity tailor(also works wardrobes for television shows and movies). Got the chance to chop it up with another buddy at The W, Decatur Dan, who's done quite well while finding his niche in photography and film. Along with those two, I caught up briefly with another buddy, Tobi, who is the driving force behind my favorite leather goods brand, Mifland. So the dream chasers were definitely in attendance. Not to sound redundant another homie(who I've known for a lot longer than I realized) was also there whom I feel is on the brink of really getting to the next level with her brand, and that's Ms. Sarah "Duckie" Mallard (get it?).
Duckie and her eponymous line are a true take in her outlook and lifestyle. The brands first collection features tie-dye tees, crewnecks and hoodies for men & women. She expands with this collection adding some very dope varsity jackets where she focuses on the structure and simplicity of the piece, ditching the trademark tie-dye. Don't fret, in my favorite piece of the collection, she comes correct with her signature look in an orange wash of tie-dye on a black hoodie, with a word that sums up the mindset of all dreamers "hustle". She doesn't leave one wanting when it comes to quality either, as she uses American Apparel tees, hoodies, and crewneck as the canvas for her designs.
She's got a pop up shop coming on Saturday October 17th, at 484 Martin Street Atlanta, Ga. Come through and check out the new pieces and support and awesome brand and person.
