As I mentioned in my last post, while I'm summarizing DC, I had two restaurants on my list that I had to try. I also said I wasn't going to go out of my way. Thankfully, DC is a city that's not spaced out; everything is pretty close. I researched the "best" burger in DC and Thunder Burger consistently popped up on these lists. So where was Ry trying to go? F'n Thunder Burger...
i couldn't quite gauge where it was after I was in the city after day one, so I just kept it on my radar as I explored different parts of the city. Every single time I was out and checked the location, I just wasn't close enough to walk to. So on Sunday, as the clock was running out on DC and I had a couple of hours left in the city, my cousin and I were exploring Georgetown and to my surprise there it was in all its glory. Only thing was, I ate like 2 hours before (amazing place called Clyde's, get the shrimp & grits). I wasn't hungry but I was on a mission...I didn't come that far to not get it. So I went in grabbed a to go order(ie the to-go box pictured rather than a plate) and waited to get back to my cousins house. I built up an appetite in about 30 minutes, because I was hype and it legit smelled amazing. The burger was the best that I tried in DC(of the two I tried, although I like The Coupe as a restaurant overall much better). Grilled to perfection, with the smoky grilled flavor you dream of. It was thick and tender, and the fact that I enjoyed it that much after it sat for 30-45 mins is a testament to how good it was. I say it every post but no one is touching H&F but hopefully a couple of places I plan on trying in NYC next month will change my mind.
