I finally got the chance to wear my kinfolk tee, as shown in my "lookbook" pose shown above. And I was very pleased with the way it looked, and fit. I went with a large to get a little longer fit for layering, and just with my Go to denim jacket It worked perfect. Leaving it open with just enough space to catch the dope yellow logo on the upper left side of the tee.
In NYC, I had a chance to visit the store(stated in my previous post) and I went to the Kinfolk Compound and had the chance to chop it up with one of the managers of the operation Brandon, who went to GSU(the real one lol). I caught him during one of their functions at kinfolk 90(the bar/club side of the operation). The spot was impressive to me simply because they played southern hip hop all night. We shot the breeze on street wear in general and what Kinfolk's focus was and what's working for them. He mentioned that the brand is doing very well in Japan and that their tee's and button ups are their best sellers. I asked why he came to New York instead of staying home and finding a company to work for and his answer made sense, "NYC is the place to be for fashion". Of course, the next day, I ended up back in Brooklyn and went to kinfolk to check out the merchandise. Great quality designs, that aren't too over the top. Not too minimalistic either, but that sweet spot of how a graphic tee should be. They use a lot of neutral colors and that royal blue tee was the one I needed, love at first site.
Shout out to my lil bro Cal for the invite and the opportunity to hang out at Kinfolk. If you haven't already, check out Kinfolklife.com
