I was honored and privileged to meet Victor Lytvinenko, designer and founder of Raleigh Denim. Ponce Denim collabed with Victor and his awesome staff at Raleigh to do a trunk show and showcase some of their new product for the F/W season. While the trunk show was a great way to learn about the new denim, I also wanted to pick Victor's brain a bit. He had an incredible story. Started making jeans in 2007 because he was a crafty guy who just enjoyed making things, he was into wine making before he was into crafting denim. His artisanal nature lead him to make one pair of jeans a day for a full year That allowed him to become a master, and create intricate details for his custom denim that would land him an account with barneys in 2009, two years after he started making denim!
whfnhe was telling us his story, I couldn't help but be inspired by someone who was as passionate about making a gear product as he was. It was infectious. If you haven't checked out Raleigh Denim please do. It's phenomenal hand made, American made denim. I recommend the Martin raw. It's a slim tapered fit that is beautiful, with handmade touches you'd have to see to believe. Come try a pair on at Ponce Denim.
